The commission had fixed a stakeholders meeting for 2pm on Saturday, February 16, at the National Collation Centre in Abuja, but it was gathered that the stakeholders’s meeting could not immediately begin because it coincide with the meeting with former heads of state.

Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison climbed the podium to apologise to the stakeholders for starting the event late.

Osaze-Ozie added that the INEC chairman and officials of the commission is still in a meeting with key stakeholders and former heads of state and presidents.

He said: “The chairman and national commissioners would have been here, but they are currently meeting with former Heads of state. But they will soon be here.”

Oluwole said the briefing would commence immediately after the meeting.

Recall that we earlier reported that Atiku Abubakar, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, alleged that the postponement of the general election by INEC is “obviously a case of the hand of Esau but the voice of Jacob.”

In a statement released in the early hours of Saturday, February 16, Atiku blamed the postponement of the elections on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying the government had “more than enough time and money to prepare”.
